Parable Trust History

Our journey so far
Parable Trust began with a conviction that the marketplace is central to the Kingdom of God.

In 2005, Robert Conway and Philip Louis received a shared vision for a different kind of organisation: one that would support Christian business leaders, help build businesses under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, and steward the value created for Kingdom purposes.

This vision was shaped in part through Robert’s involvement with the UK Board of the International Christian Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), where there was a growing sense that Christian business leaders needed practical support, prayer, fellowship, and encouragement.

From the beginning Parable Trust was intended to be a storehouse of expertise and finance to assist Christian businesses. The vision was to build and strengthen businesses that could create employment, operate with integrity, and generate resources for the work of the gospel around the world.

One of the first practical outworkings of this vision came in 2005, when a small “Mustard Seed” gift was made into Successful Failures. This reflected a core belief that Parable Trust should sow into people, ideas, and businesses with Kingdom potential, even when they are small.

In 2006, Parable Trust was formally established and made its first major acquisition with TAH; an IT business intelligence consultancy This marked the beginning of a more active approach to building, acquiring, and stewarding businesses.

Over time, the work of Parable Trust expanded internationally.

In 2010, Parable Trust Tanzania was launched, reflecting a growing burden to see sustainable Kingdom businesses established in developing nations.

In 2013, Parable Trust acquired Europlacer Limited. This was a significant step forward and represented the Trust’s belief that major businesses can be used as a force for good, creating employment, supporting families, and generating resources for Kingdom purposes.

In 2016, Parable Trust acquired Sovereign Technology in France, continuing to strengthen its international business footprint.

In 2020, Parable Trust sowed into Gearbox Europlacer in Kenya, helping establish what became the first electronic manufacturing services company in Sub-Saharan Africa. Today, this business now operates as GbE Circuits Limited.

The work continued to expand in 2023 with the formation of the Operations team,  who completed the acquisition of Open Cloud Group Ltd.

Throughout this journey, the vision of Parable Trust has remained the same:

To strengthen Christian business leaders
To support businesses that operate with integrity and excellence
To create employment and change lives
To generate resources for the work of the gospel
To multiply what God has entrusted for the work of His Kingdom

What began as a vision in 2005 has grown into more than 20 years of practical Kingdom work in the marketplace.

And we believe this is still only the beginning.
